The happy couple took to their Instagram account to share with the world that they have welcomed their first child, a baby girl. With the caption “She’s here! We’re dads! 🥹Our baby’s name is…” The family announced the arrival of their first child, Bertie James.In the video, the couple goes about their day while singing their own version of Kelly Clarkson’s “My Favorite Things,” listing things about their child and wondering what her name should be. In the video, they named a lot of celebrities, including Zendaya, Ariana Grande, Queen Latifah, and all the members of BLACKPINK. Finally, they announced that they were fathers and their daughter’s name was Bertie James.

In a chat with People , the couple opened up about what it was like to welcome their baby girl into the world. The two revealed that it was all thanks to Scott’s sister Lauren, who volunteered to be an egg donor.Additionally, Scott added, “It’s really beautiful. It’s this overwhelming flashback of all these memories growing up, like, ‘Will I find love? Will same-sex marriage be legal? Will I be able to have kids?'” He also shared that the couple has been working on it for the past four or five years, and “it’s been a long time coming.”When he first laid eyes on her, the 34-year-old singer admitted, “I started crying because it was such a beautiful thing and I felt very, very lucky.”

The pair explained in the interview that there was a special reason behind the meaning of their daughter’s name, Bertie James. Scott shared, “When I was a little kid, the first song I learned to sing was ‘Put On a Happy Face’ from ‘Bye Bye Birdie.’ We wanted something musical, but not quite on the nose. And we also loved the way it felt… felt like it could work at any age.” Her first name, James, comes from Mark’s middle name.Concluding his speech, Scott also talked about how he indicated that his daughter will grow up to be a singer like him, but added that when she grows up, she will have the freedom to do whatever she wants to be.
