Force Motors Group has reached a major milestone in its tie-up with Mercedes-Benz, announcing the production of its 200,000th engine at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The victory marks another chapter in a partnership that has grown steadily over nearly three decades in India. The engine that demonstrates this is the M256 six-cylinder gasoline engine, which is installed in the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450. The event was celebrated by the senior representatives of all the organizations present, including the top management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Force Motors.The relationship between the two companies in the powertrain industry began in 1997. Since then, the partnership has grown significantly, with Force Motors not only producing engines but also axles for a full range of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and SUVs assembled in India. Today, the Chakan factory serves as a major manufacturing facility, providing components built to Mercedes-Benz’s global demands while supporting the country’s luxury car industry.Commenting on the event, Force Motors Managing Director, Prasan Firodia, said the event represents years of trust, technical expertise and a shared commitment to excellence. He said that the Chakan facility was specially set up to meet the global standards of Mercedes-Benz and that every engine produced there reflects the company’s focus on efficiency and consistency. Among the dignitaries present were Dr. Joerg Burzer, member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Chief Technology Officer for Development & Procurement; Michael Schiebe, responsible for Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management; and Mathias Geisen, head of Sales & Customer Experience. He was joined by Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer, Executive Director and Head of Operations Vyankatesh Kulkarni, and executives from both companies.More than just a statistical success, this event highlights the successful collaboration of the Indo-German industry which has helped to raise the benchmarks of automobile manufacturing in India.
