After a successful career in Tamil and Telugu films, GV Prakash Kumar is now gearing up for a big new chapter in Bollywood. The composer is responsible for the complete soundtrack of “Nayi Naveli”, composed by Anand Rai Directed by Balaji Mohan. While GV Prakash has contributed to Hindi films before with projects like Gangs of Wasseypur, he says this is the first time he has composed an entire album for a Hindi film. The project has already sparked interest among music lovers who are eager to hear his work in new markets.
Composer says ‘Nayi Naveli’ song is in safe hands
Talking about the project with Variety India, GV Prakash expressed his confidence in the film and its music. “I had earlier worked on ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ due to my friendship with Anurag Kashyap, but ‘Nayi Naveli’ is my first full-fledged Hindi film album,” he said. He added: “I’m composing all the songs for the film and I’m sure they’ll turn out beautifully.” The composer was also full of praise for the leading lady Yami Gautam. “Yami expresses emotion perfectly on screen. When an actor can express emotion so naturally, the composer feels confident that the song is being handled safely,” he explains.
GV Prakash believes music connects beyond words
GV Prakash also shared his thoughts on working in different film industries. According to him, composing music for a Hindi film is no different than composing music for a Tamil or Telugu film. “Every film is a challenge for me. Language doesn’t change my approach,” he said. “I compose every score as if it were my first project.” The composer also spoke of the importance of traditional film songs. “Lip-synced songs have a special visual appeal. I firmly believe they help the song connect with the audience and become a hit,” he said.
GV Prakash responds to fee rumors
The composer also spoke about the frequent discussions regarding charges for his films. “People often think I charge a lot, but that’s not the case,” he said. “What I charge depends on the size of the project. For smaller films, I charge accordingly, while for larger productions, the budget is naturally different.” Looking back on his career of almost two years, GV Prakash says he still approaches every song with fresh energy. He has composed music for over 120 films and he hopes to continue this journey and create more unforgettable scores in the years to come.
