Affordable EVs under Rs 13 lakh. New Tata Tiago, Comet & more

Rising petrol and diesel prices, lower operating costs, and the increasing number of car wash networks are making many consumers consider electric mobility for their daily use. Unlike a few years ago, EV ownership is no longer at the high end of the budget spectrum. Customers now have a range of options within the Rs 15 lakh bracket, which offer practicality, utility and convenience for everyday travel.From stylish city models to large family vehicles, the market offers a wide range of options to suit different needs. Here’s a look at the cheapest electric cars available in India under Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom, no BaaS). 1. Father Tiago The first EV in the list is the Tata Tiago EV, priced from Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in four models and two battery types – 19.2kWh and 24kWh. The 24kWh battery produces 75hp and 114Nm, while the 19.2kWh version produces 61hp and 110Nm. The MIDC version of the larger battery has increased to 285km from 293km, while the smaller battery now offers 226km, up from 223km. According to Tata Motors, the C75’s real world range is 205-215km for the 24kWh model and 160-170km for the 19.2kWh model.2. MG Comet The second EV in the list is the MG Comet EV, priced from Rs 7.6 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Comet EV is offered in five variants. Executive, Enjoy, Enjoy Fast, Special, and Special Fast Pay. Talking about the battery and e-motor, it gets a 17.3kWh battery paired with a single electric motor that produces 42hp and 110Nm of torque, sending power to the rear wheels. The battery is IP67-rated for mixing water and dust and gets an ARAI-approved range of 230km.3. Tata Punch EV Another Tata Motors car in this list is the Tata Punch EV, priced from Rs 9.7 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch EV is offered with two battery options. 30 kWh and 40 kWh, and is available in five models. Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+ S. Prices for the non-BaaS models range from Rs 9.69 lakh to Rs 12.59 lakh, ex-showroom. The larger battery has an ARAI approved range of 468km on a single charge and the C75 a real world range of 355km.4. Citroen eC3Next up is the Citroen eC3 priced from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Citroen eC3 has a 29.2 kWh battery that powers the front-mounted electric motor, producing 56 hp and 143 Nm of torque. The eC3 has an ARAI-certified range of 320 km on a single charge. 5. Tata Tigor EV Next up is the Tata Tigor EV, priced from Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Tigor EV is powered by a 75hp electric motor that produces 170Nm of torque, paired with a 26kWh battery. The sedan offers an ARAI certified range of 315 km for a single charge. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 59 minutes using a fast DC charger.
