New Delhi: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may be making his debut in India, but that’s not stopping him from sharing his thoughts with senior opening partners Abhishek Sharma in the second T20I against England at Old Trafford on Saturday.In the moment captured by the stump microphones, Abhishek can be heard asking the 15-year-old about the nature of the pitch.Abhishek Sharma: “Samne jayegi ki piche maaru? Kya lagta hai?” (Should I play the front foot or the back foot? What do you think?)Suryavanshi replied calmly. Suryavanshi: “Dekh lo. Double bounce ho raha hai. Kunki ye tez nahi aayi. Aur bounce bhi kam tha.” (See for yourself. The ball bounced twice because it didn’t come fast and the bounce was low.)The exchange quickly attracted attention, with fans praising the youngster’s confidence despite this being his first international match.
A historic debut for the teenager
Soriyavanshi finally made his much-awaited India debut against England and became the youngest cricketer to represent India in international cricket.The left-handed batsman became India’s youngest international debutant at the age of 15 years and 99 days, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record of 16 years and 205 days. He also surpassed Piyush Chawla on the all-time list.
A fearless debut
The Bihar youngster showed no signs of nerves during his brief stay at the crease.He scored 14 runs off just 10 balls, including two sixes. One of them comes from England speedster Jofra Archer while the other comes from Josh Tongue.His entertaining innings came to an end when he rushed towards Will Jacks and was stumped by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.Sooryavanshi has impressed with his fearless attitude, while Abhishek Sharma has continued his fine form at the top of the order.The left-hander struck 43 off 24 balls, hitting eight fours and six sixes, before Sam Curran dismissed him.
