The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday released the provisional answer key for Re NEET UG 2026 re-exam conducted on June 21. Along with the answer key, the agency has also opened the answer challenge window for the candidates.According to a public notice issued by NTA, candidates can challenge the provisional answer key online from June 25 to June 28 by paying a processing fee of Rs 200 per question. The fee will be refunded in full if a challenge is accepted by the expert panel.Explaining the decision, NTA said it has launched the answer key challenge process at the same time as the release of provisional answer keys, though scanning of the OMR answer sheets is still ongoing.“This was done deliberately, in the interest of transparency, so that each candidate has a first and open opportunity to review the provisional answer keys for all four sets and to indicate any question that, in their view, deserves a new look,” said the agency.NTA said that by allowing the expert review of the challenges to start alongside the OMR scan, instead of waiting for the scanning process to end, it aims to publish the final answer key and declare the result at the earliest possible date.Candidates have also been advised to challenge the questions only under their own Question Paper Series Code, which is printed on the cover of the test booklet taken home after the examination. NTA said that if a challenge is accepted, the correction will be applied uniformly to all candidates in all four question sets. After the challenge window closes, all objections will be reviewed by subject matter experts. If a challenge is found to be correct, the provisional answer key will be revised and the final answer key will be used to evaluate the answers and prepare the results.“The Answer Key finalized after the challenge will be treated as final. No challenge/grievance regarding Answer Key(s) after the closing of the Challenge Window/result declaration will be entertained,” the notice said.
