Nitish Kumar Reddy rules out T20Is against Ireland; England series unlikely too

New Delhi: India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the two-match T20I series against Ireland starting on June 26 in Belfast. It is reported that Reddy’s quadriceps injury caused him to miss the second match against Afghanistan in Lucknow, but now his quadriceps injury has flared up and requires treatment before he can play again. The exact timetable for his return is unclear.Reddy has also been selected for the ODIs and T20Is against England; it remains to be seen whether the injury will keep him out of the series as well. As things stand, he will not travel with the team to Ireland.The Indian team will depart in batches for the Ireland series. One of the players, including Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Morne Morkel and T Dilip, started from Chennai today, while some players are scheduled to start from Mumbai tomorrow.If the selectors name Reddy’s replacement, Suryansh Shedge is the front-runner due to his impressive recent performances for India A in Sri Lanka.Reddy has also been selected for the ODIs and T20Is against England; he is unlikely to feature in the series.
