KCET 2026: KEA to reopen option entry window after mock allotment result; check the details

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has released an important update for candidates participating in the Under Graduate Common Entrance Test (UGCET) 2026 counseling process. The authority clarified that candidates who could not enter their college and course preferences before the deadline will get another opportunity after the announcement of the mock seat allotment result.According to KEA, the last date for the registration of preferences, also known as option entry, is now over. However, candidates who missed the deadline need not worry as they will be allowed to enter their options during the next option entry window after the mock allotment results are declared.

KEA issues clarifications on option entry

In an official statement, H. Prasanna, IAS, Executive Director of KEA, said that candidates who have not yet submitted their preferences will be able to do so after the publication of the mock seat allotment result. The authority advised applicants to use this time to prepare a list of their preferred colleges and courses so that they can complete the entry process of the option quickly when the next window opens.

Option modification will also be allowed

KEA has also confirmed that after the first round of mock seat allocation, candidates will be given the opportunity to:

  • Enter new university and course options.
  • Modify the options already submitted.
  • Submit options if they have not entered any preferences before.

This means that both candidates who want to change their choices and those who missed the previous deadline will be able to participate in the option entry process.

What candidates should do now

Candidates are advised to regularly check the KEA official website for updates on the mock allotment schedule and re-opening of the option entry window.KEA assured applicants that they will get another chance to complete or update their preferences, and there is no need to worry if they were unable to submit their options before the initial deadline.
