Prince Jakaris ends his life
The episode’s most heartbreaking moment was the death of Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, whose fate left viewers devastated. The young prince’s final battle quickly became one of the episode’s most discussed scenes, and fans braced themselves for a long season ahead, one that kicked off not only with the death of the heir to the throne, but also the death of his dragon.“In fact, Lucerys and Jakaris died on the back of a dragon like the Targaryens, and were buried in the sea like the Velaryons…” one viewer wrote.Another fan admitted, “When the first arrow hit him I screamed even though I knew it was coming…oh Jace.”Others were particularly emotional about his final moments, with one post writing: “Jace sacrificed himself for crying Bella.”
Aemond and Alicent’s KISS shocks fans
While Jakaris’ death dominated much of the conversation, another scene shocked viewers for a completely different reason. During a tense interaction between Aemond Targaryen and his mother Alicent Hightower, the acting king unexpectedly kissed her on the lips. In addition to the characters’ shock, many viewers were shocked and expressed discomfort with the scene.“I had to rewind it three times because it was impossible for my eyes to witness it. One fan wrote: “House of the Dragon keeps finding new ways to do it and leave me completely speechless.”Actress Olivia Cooke, who plays Allison, spoke about the moment and the impact it had on her character. “I think Allison always thought there was something more sinister about Aemond’s feelings for his mother, but never thought they would manifest. She was completely dumbfounded and horrified by what it meant.”Ewan Mitchell, who plays Emond, also commented on the prince’s mixed emotions. He said: “There may be a bit of an Oedipal complex. Eamond has a very distorted understanding of love. He lacked love when he was growing up, so he doesn’t quite know how to express love.”
North remembers
The event also gave Black Team a major boost with the arrival of long-awaited reinforcements from the north. Roderick Dustin and the Winter Wolf finally make their debut, bringing Northern support to Rhaenyra Targaryen’s cause. The arrival of the Stark allies was welcomed with enthusiasm by fans, many of whom have been waiting for the Northern Knight to join the conflict ever since the show began adapting George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood.
