We’re happy that Gadar is doing well, but we’re very supportive of Lagaan. We were hoping it would expand, but due to the length of the film, it was limited to three screenings. “Looking back on the film’s lasting impact, Kashyap believes Lagann changed the way mainstream cinema viewed long-form storytelling. “But it’s always like you’re watching it in a stadium, you’re in a movie. This is the first film in a long time that has had that kind of impact. If Ragan hadn’t worked, then we as filmmakers wouldn’t have been able to make a film like Wasseypur. That duration, the length, like if you catch the story of the movie, you don’t feel like it’s three hours and forty minutes.
