The remaining Padma Award 2026 recipients were honored by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday, June 23, at the second civil appointment ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. In attendance at this prestigious event were Prime Minister Narendra ModiVice President CP Radhakrishnan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several other dignitaries.Malayalam film icon Mammootty was one of the famous recipients who received the Padma Shri from the President. The veteran actor attended the event along with his wife Sulfath, son and actor Dulquer Salmaan and daughter Surumi, making it a proud family moment.Famous playback singer Alka Yagnik was also awarded the Padma Shri. The singer, who has suffered from hearing loss in recent years, was escorted onto the stage by an usher. Before receiving the award, she paid tribute to the Prime Minister Narendra ModiSitting in the front row, he touched his feet as a sign of respect.A total of 65 Padma Awards were awarded during the second awards ceremony to recognize outstanding contributions in various fields.The list of notable recipients also includes actor and film producer R Madhavan, who was awarded the Padma Shri, and Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma. Veteran actor Satish Shah was awarded posthumously for his contribution to Indian cinema and television. Madhavan shared a moment with Prime Minister Modi before taking the stage to receive the Padma Shri. The second award ceremony was held after the first civil award ceremony on May 26, during which 66 Padma Awards were awarded. One of the most emotional moments of the event was the posthumous awarding of the Padma Vibhushan to legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025. The honor was accepted on his behalf by his wife, actor and politician Hema Malini.The Padma Award remains one of India’s highest civic honors, recognizing outstanding achievements and services in the fields of arts, literature, sports, public affairs, science and social work.
