Sri Lanka 89.4 364/5 in overs

WI vs SL 2nd Test Day 2 Live: Sri Lanka ended the first day of the second Test in complete control, posting a score of 338/5 against the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The visitors, looking to make a comeback after a disappointing defeat in the series opener, produced a dominant batting performance with opener Lahiru Udara’s maiden Test century.

Udara starts Sri Lanka’s lead

Uddala’s brilliant knock of 188 laid the foundation for Sri Lanka’s impressive first innings total. The opener set a record-breaking 215 runs for the third wicket with Kamindu Mendis, who played an equally important hand with a flowing 84 runs.

The frustrated duo attacked West Indies for most of the day until the hosts finally made headway in the evening session.

Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva scored a valuable 33 runs before taking the landmark wicket of Jayden Seales, who claimed his 100th Test scalp.

West Indies seek early momentum on second day

The home team opted for a second new ball late on the first day, leaving only two overs of the old ball remaining by the next morning. With the new conditions expected to help, West Indies will be hoping their pace attack can make an immediate breakthrough and prevent Sri Lanka from posting a daunting first-innings total.

Sears and Alzarri Joseph will be key to victory for the home team as they look to expose Sri Lanka’s low order before the visitors cross the 450-run mark.

Sri Lanka aim for high first-innings total

The action continues on day two with Sonal Dinusha (5*) and Kusal Mendis (0*) looking to consolidate Sri Lanka’s strong position. With 5 wickets still in hand, the visitors are targeting a total between 450-500, which could put huge pressure on West Indies to score and increase their chances of leveling the series.
