A shocking case has come to light from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, where a man was arrested for allegedly hiring killers to kill his father so that he could get a job on compassionate grounds, police said. The victim, Tuleshwar Nonia, worked at a Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) mine in Barora and had only two years of service before retirement. According to the police, his son Vijay Chauhan wanted a permanent job in the colliery after his father’s death and planned the murder with two men, Amit Singh and Akhilesh Mallah. All three were arrested.Dhanbad Rural Superintendent of Police S Mohammed Yakub said, “Nonia was a coal worker at a BCCL mine in Barora. He had only two years of service left at BCCL. His son Vijay Chauhan wanted to secure permanent employment in the mine on compassionate grounds after his father’s death and conspired to eliminate his father. The police alleged that Chauhan had offered Rs 10 lakh to Singh and Mallah to carry out the murder, although no advance payment was made before the crime.According to the investigation, Chauhan allegedly created an alibi by telling his father that he was traveling to Bihar’s Aurangabad to attend a relative’s wedding. He left home on Friday morning. The police said that after Nonia finished her shift on the night of June 19, Singh and Mallah offered her a lift on their motorcycle. They took him to an isolated place, where they killed him by hitting him with a large stone.Investigators said the accused later mutilated Nonia’s face to hide his identity and dragged the body onto the main road to make the murder look like a road accident. The case took a turn after the police examined CCTV footage from the BCCL system at the AMP Colliery. According to Yakub, the footage showed Nonia riding a motorcycle with Singh and Mallah.“The CCTV footage from the BCCL system at the AMP Colliery clearly showed Nonia riding on the same motorcycle with Singh and Mallah. Acting on this lead, the police detained the two men and subjected them to rigorous interrogation, eventually uncovering the full truth,” the official said. The police also said that Mallah has a criminal record and has been jailed earlier in cases related to coal and diesel theft registered at Madhuban police station.
