Re-NEET UG Result 2026: NTA says announcement by July 20 - report
Re-NEET UG result from July 20; The academic session to start on time: official NTA

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the re-NEET UG 2026 exam result will be declared by July 20. Although the agency has not announced an exact date, a senior NTA official said that the work is being carried out on a war to release the results as soon as possible, ANI reported. The official also assured the students that the delay caused by the re-examination will not affect the commencement of the MBBS academic session. The re-NEET UG exam was conducted on June 21 after the May 3 exam, taken by more than 20 lakh candidates, was canceled over alleged allegations of paper leakage.“I would not like to give any date as of now, but the result will be out by July 20. Normally, the results are announced within 45 days of the exam, but this time, as we conducted the exam in 37 days, we will announce the results much earlier,” said the official. The provisional answer key was released on June 25, and candidates were allowed to raise objections till June 28. According to the official, around 10,000 challenges have been submitted by the aspirants. The agency is now reviewing each objection before preparing the final answer key and result.“We need to scan all the challenges one by one, examine the supporting evidence, and respond to each of them,” the official added. The NTA also said that despite the re-examination, the MBBS academic session will start on schedule. However, the schedule of the council has not yet been announced. After the NEET UG result is declared, the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will release the counseling schedule for 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ), AIIMS, JIPMER, central universities and retained universities. The state authorities will separately announce the counseling programs for the remaining 85 percent of the state quota seats.During counseling, candidates have to register online, pay the counseling fee, and fill in their preferred colleges and courses. Seats are allotted based on NEET rank, category, reservation rules, preferences and availability of seats. Candidates who receive a place must report to their assigned university for document verification and admission. The counseling process is usually held in multiple rounds, including Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round and Stray Vacancy Round, before the new academic session begins.Meanwhile, some states, including Tamil Nadu, have already started preparatory admission processes while waiting for the NEET UG result.
