‘Karuppu’ earns huge Rs 191 crore at box office in Tamil Nadu
Seven weeks after its release, the makers have officially announced the final box office collection of the film in Tamil Nadu. According to an official announcement from Tamil Nadu distributor Sakthi Film Factory, “Karuppu” has grossed Rs 191 crore at the box office in the state, making it one of the highest-grossing Tamil films in the region. The film showed amazing consistency throughout its run, earning Rs 60 crore in the first three days, Rs 100 crore in its first week, Rs 150 crore in just 13 days, and Rs 175 crore on the 20th day. Now, the company has added an additional Rs 16 crore to close the theater business in Tamil Nadu at Rs 191 crore, but failed to reach the Rs 200-crore mark, a first for a Suriya film.
Strong word-of-mouth fuels the film’s long-term box office success
“Karuppu” was released on May 15 and was well received by family audiences and fans, keeping it in theaters for a longer period of time. Still, even though “Karuppu” was released on an OTT platform on June 12, it still managed to attract some audiences in theaters. That’s the result of good reviews, repeat viewings and high weekend box office receipts.
