The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has released the shortlisted candidates for admission to its Bachelor of Cybersecurity (B.Cyber.) program for the 2026 academic session. Candidates who have applied for the course can check if they have been shortlisted by visiting the official website, iitk.ac.in, and searching for their application number.According to the institute, 120 candidates have been shortlisted to appear in the entrance test.IIT Kanpur has informed that the shortlisted candidates will receive a confirmation email with a confirmation form by the end of the day on 29 June 2026.Candidates whose names appear in the short list but who do not receive the email can contact the institute by writing to office_is@iitk.ac.in.The application process for the B.Cyber ​​program started on June 15 and closed on June 25, 2026. The list was published on June 29, 2026.

Admission test schedule

B.Cyber ​​admission test will be held on 5th July 2026 at IIT Kanpur campus.Candidates must report to the examination venue by 9:00 AM. Entrance to the examination center will close at 9:45 AM, and no candidate will be allowed to enter after that time.The login instructions and procedures will be completed from 10:00 AM, while the admission test will be conducted from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.The institute will declare the results of the entrance test on July 8, 2026. Candidates who are selected should report back to IIT Kanpur on July 21, 2026, to complete the admission process.

Important guidelines for candidates

Candidates must bring a valid photo ID proof and present at the examination venue on time. They will also be required to sign a consent form before the assessment begins.The institute instructed candidates to use only the computer system, login credentials, and approved tools provided during the exam. They must remain at their assigned workstation throughout the test and inform the proctor immediately if they encounter any technical problems.Use of unauthorized devices, Internet access, email services, messaging applications, or any external resources is strictly prohibited. Candidates must also avoid communicating with other participants, sharing challenge content, or attempting to manipulate the scoring system. Any violation of the rules will lead to immediate disqualification.

Admission test program

The B.Cyber ​​admission test, which will be conducted in a hackathon format, will cover topics such as:

  • Cryptography
  • Web Security
  • API Security
  • Network security
  • Reverse engineering
  • Open Source Intelligence (OSINT)

According to the institute, the assessment is designed to assess candidates’ analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, curiosity and aptitude for cybersecurity. The exam will be conducted on sanitized desktop systems under the supervision of IIT Kanpur experts.Direct link to download here
