As discussions about the 8-hour work day become increasingly prevalent in the film industry, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani shares an anecdote to highlight the Ranbir KapoorCommitment while shooting Sanju. The director revealed that Ranbir would report to the set as early as 3 am and put on makeup for a few hours before the day’s shooting.Hirani explains that the actor-turned- Sanjay Dutt Makeup needs to be applied for four to five hours a day. Therefore, Ranbir will reach Filmcity before dawn for the scheduled 7 am shoot.Hirani was asked whether actors insisting on shorter shifts would impact filmmaking and production costs, especially compared to veteran actors who often work extremely long hours.Responding to the question, he told IANS in an interview, “I don’t think anyone in today’s generation of actors would say that we will only work so many hours. They understand its importance, at least the people I’ve worked with understand its importance. Toh karna hai toh khatam karna hai. They will get it done. “The filmmaker later recalled that despite the tight schedule, Ranbir never complained. “I remember Ranbir, he had a beard in the film, so the make-up took 4-5 hours. So if we were doing a 7am shift, he would come at 3am and sit alone in the film city at night. I used to arrive at 6am and there was a van outside with a light hanging outside and the make-up was going on inside. Then we would shoot with him for a full 12 hours. He never complained about this. Never, to anyone.
