When Viral Sharma reached the UPSC civil services interview, he came close to fulfilling his dream. But he missed the final selection list. A similar disappointment followed when he reached the UPPCS interview but could not make the final list. For many aspirants, such encounters could end the journey. Viral chose a different path. Viral belongs to Belwa Moti village in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. He was a brilliant student and topped his high school and intermediate exams. He then completed Mechanical Engineering from NIT Allahabad and worked in Alwar, Rajasthan, for almost three years.In 2023, he resigned from his job to prepare for full-time civil services. Without joining any formal coaching, he studied mostly from his country. During her preparation, she traveled to various states to appear for the civil services exam, including Uttarakhand PCS in Haridwar, UPPCS in Prayagraj, and Bihar PCS in Patna and Kishanganj.His persistence eventually brought results. Viral secured Rank 7 in Uttarakhand PCS exam and was selected as Deputy Collector. He also secured Rank 7 in the Bihar PCS for the post of Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and Rank 16 for the post of Block Development Officer (BDO).Despite these achievements, Viral’s preparation strategy has been simple. It focuses on solving 30 to 35 years of previous years’ question papers, preparing one-page notes for each topic in the syllabus, revising regularly, and sticking to a standard source for each subject.Even after securing top ranks in state civil services, Viral’s biggest goal is still ahead of him – UPSC. Now preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2026, Viral continues to chase the dream that inspired him earlier, determined to keep trying despite the setbacks he faced along the way.
