State Bank of India (SBI) will soon close the online application process for the recruitment of Probationary Officer (PO) 2026. Eligible candidates who have not yet applied can complete their registration through the official SBI career portal before the last date, 8th July 2026.Through this recruitment drive, SBI aims to fill 1,500 Probation Officer vacancies across the country. These include 1,446 regular vacancies and 54 backlog vacancies. The bank also stated that the number of vacancies is provisional and may change according to its requirements.
SBI PO recruitment 2026: Eligibility
Candidates must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or have an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.Students in the last year or last semester of graduation are also eligible to apply, as long as they produce proof of passing the qualifying exam or before September 30, 2026, if shortlisted for the interview.Candidates should be between 21 to 30 years of age as on 1st April 2026. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be provided as per government rules.
Application fee
Candidates belonging to Unreserved (UR), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories have to pay an application fee of Rs 750.Candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories are exempted from payment of application fee.
Selection process
The recruitment process will be carried out in three phases:
- Phase 1: Online preliminary exam
- Phase 2: Mains Exam Online
- Phase 3: Psychometric test, group exercise and personal interview
The preliminary examination is scheduled for August 2026, while the main examination is scheduled for September 2026. The final stage of the selection is likely to take place during October and November 2026.

Selected candidates will join SBI as Probationary Officers in Junior Management Grade Scale-I.The starting basic pay is Rs 48,480, while the approximate cost to Company (CTC) in central Mumbai is around Rs 21.97 lakh per annum. Selected candidates will also be eligible for allowances and benefits as per bank rules.
