The visitors made three changes to their starting XI while West Indies welcomed wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope back after missing the series opener due to injury.
Cy Hope returns; Cockroach missed out
Hope succeeds Joshua de Silva and will also take over goalkeeping duties.
However, West Indies suffered a blow with veteran fast bowler Kemar Roach missing out with a hamstring injury. Roach reached the milestone of 300 Test wickets in his first Test.
Fast bowler Anderson Phillip came to the side in his place.
West Indies went into the match full of confidence after a superb innings in the first Test and a 217-run victory, their first win in eight matches at the World Test Championship.
Captain Roston Chase said he was delighted with the first delivery and hoped his side could repeat their performance in the first Test. He also feels that a grassy pitch can help the fast bowlers in the early stages of the game.
Sri Lanka makes three changes
Sri Lanka also revamped their starting XI.
Lahiru Udara replaces opener Pathum Nissanka and veteran left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya replaces injured pacer Lahiru Kumara.
The visitors also introduced Kasun Rajitha in place of Isitha Wijesundara.
