He backed Samson’s recent performances and said the youngster should be allowed to develop without comparison.Suryavanshi was part of the Indian team in the T20I series against Ireland and England but is yet to make his international debut. Instead, India continues to back the top trio of Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, who played a vital role in India’s 2026 T20 World Cup victory.When asked if Sooryavanshi could replace Samson in the starting XI, Karim rejected the suggestion.“I don’t think so at this stage. Sanju Samson is a fantastic player. He is the winner of the game. He performed well in the IPL season. Before that, he was the best player in the T20 World Cup. What are we looking at? Sanju Samson would be thinking, ‘Why is everyone pointing guns at me?’ ‘” Karim said on the “Star Sports” program, according to News18.Karim also said that it could be in Suryavanshi’s favor to stay in the Indian team and not play immediately.“It was a good learning curve even for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
