Customs asks Dulquer Salman again
According to Mathrubhumi, customs officials are preparing to question Dulquer Salmaan again after analyzing his statements in the previous round of interrogation, which reportedly lasted more than seven hours. Officials also asked the actor to submit additional documents related to the luxury vehicle under review. The new inquiry is said to be part of an ongoing investigation and follows the agency’s review of previous responses. So far, the customs department has not filed any charges of wrongdoing against the actor and the investigation remains open.
Four luxury cars under the scanner
The investigation was conducted under “Operation Numkhor”, a special operation launched by the Customs Prevention Department to investigate the alleged illegal import of luxury cars from Bhutan into India. As part of the operation, officials had earlier seized four luxury vehicles linked to Durgai Salman, including a Land Rover Defender, a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Nissan Patrol and another Nissan used in one of his films. The vehicles were later released to the actor following a court order after the actor provided a substantial bank guarantee. The court also directed that the vehicles should be produced as and when required by investigators and should not be taken out of the state without prior permission.
The actor insists he purchased the vehicles legally
Dulgai Salman has always maintained that he was not aware of any alleged irregularities in the vehicles. The actor reportedly told customs officials that he purchased all the luxury cars legally from previous owners in India using valid documents and bank transactions. Meanwhile, the wider Operation Numkhor investigation focuses on an alleged network that imported luxury cars through forged documents to evade taxes. The investigation is said to span several states including Kerala, Assam and Rajasthan, with investigators trying to unearth information about possible smuggling gangs. The investigation is ongoing and the investigating agency has not made any findings public.
