Actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay turned 52 on June 22, his first birthday since taking office. Actors, political leaders and fans took to social media to voice their wishes Kelsey Suresh shared a heartfelt message that reflected Vijay’s transformation from film icon to political leader.Keerthy shared a picture with Vijay on X and wrote a special note to celebrate the new chapter in his life.“For years, your birthday meant waiting for a first look, a trailer, a teaser, or the announcement of a new movie. It became a ritual we all looked forward to. This year feels different,” she wrote.

“You are reintroducing yourself as a leader”

Keerthy went on to acknowledge Vijay’s move from the silver screen to public service and said his latest role could be his biggest yet.“For the first time in over a decade, not a new character is being introduced into the world. Instead, we’re witnessing something much more important. You’re reintroducing yourself, not as an on-screen hero, but as a leader stepping into a new chapter of service and responsibility.”She further added: “This year, we are embarking on a new journey with a new look and we are all here to cheer you on.”She ended her speech in Tamil and wrote: “Happy birthday to the leader who will always live in our hearts”, extending warm birthday wishes to the leader popularly known as “Talapathi”.

Vijay’s political journey

Vijay is celebrating his first birthday as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu after successfully transitioning from films to politics. He joins an alliance of influential actor-turned-politicians like NT Rama Rao, MG Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa.In February 2024, Vijay announced his political ambitions and confirmed that he would participate in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He subsequently formed his own political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and held its first major public rally in October 2024. Since then, Vijay has traveled extensively across Tamil Nadu, addressing public meetings, interacting with citizens and presenting his vision for the state directly to the people.
