The decision also applies to educational institutions in Thane and Palghar districts.According to the civic administration, the move was taken as a precaution to ensure the safety of students in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall and strong winds. The authorities also said that schools can hold classes online if necessary.The District Authority gives flexibilityOfficials said district authorities and school heads have been empowered to assess local weather conditions and take decisions regarding holidays where necessary. The agreement allows administrations to respond quickly if rainfall intensifies in specific areas.The council noted that while educational institutions remain closed today, government and private offices continue to operate. However, citizens were advised to go outside only when necessary to avoid inconvenience caused by heavy rain.Heavy rain continues to impact MumbaiMumbai and neighboring regions have experienced persistent heavy rainfall for the past few days, leading to waterlogging, traffic disruptions and incidents of falling trees in various parts of the city.
