The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and the University of Mumbai-Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai, have declared the result of the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2026.Candidates who have appeared for the entrance exam can now check their results and merit ranks through the official website, nestexam.in.To access the NEST 2026 result, candidates should login using their application number, date of birth (as mentioned on the admit card) and captcha code.Earlier, the authorities had released the final answer key for NEST 2026 on June 17.
How to check NEST 2026 result
Candidates can follow the steps below to download their scorecards:
- Visit the official website at nestexam.in.
- Click on the link that reads, “NEST RESULT 2026 – Check Your Merit Rank”.
- Enter your application number, date of birth and captcha code.
- Click on the submit button.
- Your result will appear on the screen.
- Download the scorecard and save it for future use.
- Take a printout for future reference.

NEST 2026 exam details
The NEST 2026 examination was conducted in computerized mode on June 6 from 2 am to 5 pm in 140 examination centers across the country.NEST serves as an entrance exam for admission to the five-year Master of Science (MSc) program offered by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS.
Seat availability
A total of 261 places are available through NEST 2026 admissions.The distribution of seats is as follows:
- National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar: 202 seats
- University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai: 59 seats
About NEST
NEST is a compulsory computer-based entrance exam for students seeking admission to integrated MSc programs offered by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS.Both the institutions are autonomous organizations established by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, in 2007. Admissions are offered on the basis of the candidates’ performance in the NEST examination and the merit list prepared by the participating institutions.Candidates are advised to check their results carefully and keep a copy of the scorecard for use during the admission and counseling process.
