Mini India today launched the made-in-India Mini Countryman C in the Indian market. The new Mini Countryman C will be manufactured locally at the BMW Group plant in Chennai and is priced at Rs 47.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Reservations are already open; interested customers can book the car through a Mini dealership only, and deliveries will start soon. The new Mini Countryman C will compete with the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and other similarly priced luxury SUVs.Talking about the engine first, the new Mini Countryman C is powered by a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder, turbocharged engine with 156hp and 240nm. It comes mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox and sends power to the front wheels. The same engine also works in the BMW X1, but here the engine is tuned to produce more power. The Mini Countryman C can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 9.0 seconds and has a top speed of 212km/h. It comes with a 60-litre fuel tank and offers a fuel efficiency of 15.92kpl. The MINI Countryman is built on the UKL2 front platform, which it shares with the BMW X1, which is also assembled in India.In terms of design, the Mini Countryman C follows the JCW design and electric range in terms of the design of all the elements such as the design of the headlamps, tail lamps and the design of the wheels. At the front, it features circular headlights combined with a sleek grille, a straight nose and a redesigned bumper, giving it a more powerful look compared to the previous models.

In terms of appearance, the design changes to a more streamlined silhouette, with a flat roof, upright stance and rounded wheels. Longer wheelbases help increase volume and interior space. The rear remains simple, with LED lights with a modern signature lighting, a clean tail design and minimal detailing.Stepping inside, it features a redesigned cabin that focuses on clean and contemporary while retaining key brand features. Features include a 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen display, head-up display, navigation controls, 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, 360-degree camera, glass roof, electrically operated front seats, wireless phone charging and parking assist. The driver’s seat also includes a massage function.Rear seat occupants benefit from sliding seats with adjustments of up to 130mm and recline up to 25 degrees. Boot volume is 505 liters and expands to 1,450 liters with the rear seats folded down. The SUV also offers connected car technology, ambient lighting, MINI Digital Key Plus and eight MINI Experience drive modes. Its safety features include ADAS features such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, alert assist, pedestrian protection and reverse assist. The Countryman C has achieved a five-star safety rating at Euro NCAP.
